Week #4 and #5
6.24.08
Week four and five both had positive points, each week we bettered our times, by over .250 seconds in week four and yet another .1 almost in week five, turning our quickest times yet this season! Moving in the right direction is what we say...
In week four we were in the second heat with alot of fast cars, we held our own and the car came in a bit late but was still strong enough for a 5th place finish, in the feature that evening we had alot of heavy hitters running with us due to it being an Auto Value special night. We were running in the top 10 until a mid race accident claimed us. Staying out as long as we could to complete the most laps an overheating engine caused us to retire early with a 13th place finish.
In week five we showed up poised to run well and do battle. And well this week was yet another first for C&R MotorSports. Caleb was able too lead for the first time this past week with not only leading a lap but lead the most laps in his heat race. Though he fought tooth and nail being a rookie he dove into the corners a little to hard and was passed as an outcome. He finished the heat in 3rd. Moving into the Feature... The terriotory of being a Rookie team showed and an adjustment lead too a small rookie mistake. We were able to salvage a 10th place finish out and kept the car clean for the most part so that was nice.
Come join us this Saturday for the Driveline 100 and Powerhouse 50. This is a very unique event with many out of state drivers registered to do battle at 6pm on Saturday!!! The payout is the first of its kind anywhere here in the states and should prove to provide great racing all around for those in the event and watching from the stands. Great news is it is only $10 per person for General Admission, pack your coolers and get ready for a great show! We'll be camping both Friday and Saturday nights so feel free to stop down and find us, sure to have stories to share and laughs enjoyed by all.
WEEK #3, no #2 DUE TO RAIN!
6.8.08
Well the weather gods worked in our favor this week. First things first C&R MotorSports would like to thank Gene Coleman for helping the team out with borrowing them a loaner carb this week after experience a failure when getting ready to load the car in questionable weather Friday morning. Once on at the track it was all business due to trying a few new things out from the last time at the track. They may be rookies in this division but are coming together as a well oiled and experienced team.
Qualifying went well, its hard to compare to week one's times due to having four new tires then and only two new tires this week per the rules, but we qualified in at 24th. Before the racing even started during the National Anthem if you looked in the direction of the Coleman Racing Team's pit area you would of seen all of the Coleman drivers and pit crew members along with the Shawn Majkrzak team lined up shoulder to shoulder in respect of the raising of our Nations colors. From my point of view that was very respectful and professional of all the teams involved.
It was gut check time for Caleb though as he decided to start his races where he qualified, instead of the rear like in week one. This move proved to pay off as he was not only ready to start there but he held his own. Caleb pushed his machine as hard as it would go during the heat race and finished 7th place. Between the Heat and Feature the crew pulled off a number of adjustments in hopes of setting Caleb up for a solid run in the semi.
Lining up for the feature Caleb knew he was going to have his hands full with all of the talented drivers around him. Right in front of him was Shawn Majkrzak and too make matters even more intense, along side him on the inside was multi-time track champion Bob Menor, then behind him was Bob's teammate and last weeks main event winner Matt Parkansky. By looking around Caleb felt comfortable and knew that this was going to be the best test for him as driver starting there with all these talented drivers around him. In the early laps Caleb stayed right there side by side with the pack like a seasoned veteran. As the race went on he stayed with it and was glad his crew gave him a car that was driveable! After a couple yellow flags for spins, Caleb raced his way to an 8th place semi feature finish.
In the main event it was an outstanding race for teammates Gene Coleman and Troy Nelson where they raced many laps door to door in front of the pack fighting every inch of the 1/3 mile race track for the lead over one another. In the final lap it was Gene Coleman victorious over Troy Nelson. Congrats too them for a great race and the show they put on for the fans. Gene also demonstrated his victory burn out on the front stretch where the fans cheered on their feet. As for Dalton we are sorry about the tire situation for next week!!!
Join C &R MotorSports next week for Auto Value Round 1 were our teammate from Spruce Creek, Florida young Dalton Zehr will be returning to Norway Speedway to fill in for Gene Coleman in the #119 car.
OPENER UNDER OUR BELT
5.27.08
Well the season opener was finally upon us. Hollywood could not have made the weather any better than we had at the track Saturday evening. Though just like in a Hollywood movie you have your moments. When we unloaded the car we faced a mechanical gremlin which with the help from our teammate Ryan Hood was easily fixed. During our practice session a second one bite us also but was resolved before the scuff session and all was set for a fun evening.
Caleb went out for his first ever Late Model qualifying session and did well for a rookie. Come race time the team opted to start racing from the rear of the field so not too cause any problems for the more experienced drivers out there. Starting from the rear had its perks as Caleb will tell you because he was able to see how other drivers were hitting the corners and launching out of them as well. It also allowed him the chance to get the nose of the #7 in there and make a few passes. During the heat race a caution was drawn out do to a spin in front of Caleb but with the help of his spotter and brother Isaac Fulcher he was able avoid the spinning car. In the feature he took the chances and went high a couple times on restarts with mixed results but as the race went on you could see Caleb settling in and getting more comfortable with each lap.
With this being the first week of racing coming off of only one practice day, Caleb took to the track like the professional that he is and it was exciting to see him grow and will be more and more as each week goes on.
Join C&R MotorSports this coming Friday for week two at the Norway Speedway.
C&R MotorSports would also like to congratulate thier teammate and fellow rookie contender in the Late Models - Ryan Hood, he qualified 8th quick and ran a strong A feature! Way to go Ryan, Steve and your entire team!!!
Also some of their friends from the Fab 4 division had great runs to open the season - Scott Olson made the move up this year to the Super Stock division and not only won his first ever heat race but also went on to win the B feature event as well. A big congrats also goes to Elliot Hess on his first DQ Dog A Feature win. Congrats guys and keep up the hard work.

Now for the Practice report, we headed up to Norway on Saturday for a full day of working on the car's setup and allowing Caleb an opportunity to get comfortable in the car. Have to say it did go well, there was no major mechanical issues, and alot of laps were turned. Many thanks go out to Isaac, Rookie, Ted, Tyler, Kevin and Gene for all there help and support at the track that day.
With that said we are heading into the opener excited and pumped knowing everyone at associated with the program has given there all to get to this point and its time to mix it up and hopefully deliver solid results for our Rookie season in a Late Model!
GETTING THE ITCH!
4.30.08
Many new pics added!!!
First off sorry its been a few weeks since the last update. Everything with C&R MotorSports has been really busy.
This past weekend started off very busy. We finished up with the hanging of the body and getting the car rolling. The car was finally loaded and on its way up to Menominee at 1:00am in the morning Saturday.
Saturday I met up with my team mate Ryan Hood and saw his car all painted up and looking nice. Once Ryan left we began turning wrenches. With the guidance and knowledge of Gene Coleman and Kevin Beyer my brother Isaac and our family started in on the car with scaling and general setup to prep it for practice this weekend.
With the help of Chaltz Customz we also have all the lettering designed and ready to be cut. Just a few loose ends too tighten up and we will be ready for this Saturdays practice.
FIRED UP!!!
4.3.08
There are a few new pictures posted.
Now for the news, over the past few weeks we worked on a handful of bugs, sucessfully set the motor in, hooked up the tranny, and wired in the Ignition. Along with rounding up the needed shocks and springs to start the season off, not to mention many other odds and ends required.
During the past few weeks the body also was shot with a new coat of paint and we have begun working with Tori at Rite-Way Truck and Stuff on our decal package that Jason from Chaltz Custom's has been designing.
By far though the best part was firing it up for the first time and being able to hear it run for a short while.
Of course this all wouldn't be possible without the help from several key people, plenty of thanks goes out to Dave, Isaac, Ryan, and Neal, along with Gene who has been open with his wealth of knowledge and assistance every step of the way.
Progress Report
3.10.08
First off New Pictures have been posted!
This past week was exciting at C&R MotorSports, Rookie took the opportunity with work to be remote this week, which meant he was at my house and nightly we were in the garage. By Thursday evening things were rolling along well and we were getting set to install the engine on Saturday with Dave Dugre.
I decided to take Friday off and headed up to Menominee. A parts run was in need and while there Gene, Ryan Hood along with his girlfriend and I had a chance to catch up. After gathering up what I needed it was back to Little Chute to continue on. A long story short we took a different course of action and the engine will be going in this coming weekend.
The time allowed us to finish up multi odds an ends with the car along with a few things in the garage. Best part of it was having Ocho down along with Nick coming over for a good bit on Saturday.
Our upcoming schedule is ambitious as I am flying out in Mid April to attend a work function that will have me gone over the entire weekend. Our goal is to have the car scaled and ready before I leave. Setting us up for the first practice in May and launching the season off on the right foot hopefully!
EXCITING NEWS!!
2.23.08
WOW! So after many years of racing my dream of driving a Late Model has come true! Thanks to Gene Coleman and Coleman Racing Products we will be racing at Norway weekly in there Late Model Division.
At the end of the '07 racing season he approached us about learning to drive a late model and offered a car he had that was sitting unused. We begin laying the ground work and have been working diligently during the off-season to get ready for the fast approaching opener in May.
One item we are still pursuing with great urgency is Sponsor's. If you are interested please do not hesitate in contacting us to discuss how we can work together.
Pictures of the car will slowly be making it on to the website, at the moment it is sitting without the body and waiting for the Crate Motor and Transmission to go in next weekend.
The body is awaiting a fresh paint job, being proudly provided by Neal Sannes with Sherwin-Williams Automotive Paint.
Please stay posted for weekly updates here and feel free to ask away with the questions. Often times you will be able to also see my responses and thoughts to weekly happenings on the forum at www.midweststockcar.com.
